As we scale our digital footprint, we are looking for a talented Android Developer to lead the development of our mobile ecosystem, ensuring our readers in Varanasi and beyond have seamless access to news on the go.
The Role
We are looking for a mid-to-senior level Android Developer who is passionate about performance and user experience. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the SkyPlusNews mobile application, integrating our web-based news scrapers and content management systems into a sleek, high-speed mobile interface.
Key Responsibilities
- App Development: Design and build advanced, scalable applications for the Android platform using Kotlin or Java.
- Feature Integration: Implement real-time news alerts, “Snips” (short-form content), and interactive engagement features.
- Performance Optimization: Ensure the app remains lightweight and high-performing, even on entry-level devices and variable network speeds.
- API Integration: Collaborate with our backend team to connect the app with our WordPress-based REST APIs and custom news engines.
- UI/UX Implementation: Translate wireframes and designs into high-quality code, maintaining a focus on intuitive navigation and readability.
- Ad Management: Integrate mobile advertising solutions (AdMob/Header Bidding) to support our monetization strategies while maintaining a clean user experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in Android development.
- Tech Stack: Strong proficiency in Kotlin (preferred) or Java, and deep knowledge of the Android SDK.
- Architectural Knowledge: Familiarity with MVVM or MVP architecture.
- Networking: Experience with Retrofit, Volley, or similar libraries for integrating RESTful APIs.
- Tooling: Proficiency with Android Studio, Git, and Firebase (Push Notifications, Analytics, and Crashlytics).
- Web Integration: Understanding of WebView implementation and syncing mobile app data with WordPress/MySQL databases is a major plus.
