About the Role

At SKYPLUSNEWS, data is the pulse of our editorial and business strategy. We are looking for a Data Engineer to architect and maintain the pipelines that transform raw audience engagement, social media trends, and global news feeds into actionable insights. You will be the backbone of our data ecosystem, ensuring our journalists and analysts have high-quality, real-time data at their fingertips.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Architecture: Design, build, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from diverse sources (Google Analytics 4, social media APIs, and internal databases).
  • Infrastructure Management: Maintain and scale our data warehouse and cloud storage solutions (AWS/GCP) to handle traffic spikes during major breaking news events.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement rigorous data validation methods and cleansing processes to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance with data privacy standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our Cloud Infrastructure and Editorial teams to build custom tools that track content performance and SEO trends.
  • Automation: Script repetitive data tasks using Python or Bash to improve the efficiency of our digital delivery systems.

Technical Qualifications

  • Programming: 2+ years of experience in Python (Pandas, NumPy) and advanced SQL.
  • Big Data & Cloud: Proven experience with AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue) or Google Cloud (BigQuery, Dataflow).
  • Frameworks: Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Prefect.
  • Databases: Proficiency in both relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/DynamoDB) environments.
